Navi Mumbai, INDIA, February 9, 2007 – BASF today launched its first polyurethanes system house in Navi Mumbai, India, to cater to the needs of customers in the automotive, footwear, appliances and construction industries.
“This is an important step toward better serving our customers in India. As the polyurethanes market in India is growing more dynamically compared to that in Europe, we anticipate that BASF Polyurethanes will benefit from the strong market potential,” said Jacques Delmoitiez, President, BASF Polyurethanes.
The new system house was inaugurated by Mr. Rajiv Jalota, CEO Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation, together with BASF’s senior management. The system house has the latest facilities to produce backward integrated Polyester polyol for the footwear segment and blending facilities for the appliances (refrigerators) and automotive segments (car and scooter seatings).

BASF Polyurethanes has more than 30 systems houses around the world and nine within the Asia Pacific region to serve customers, all of which are backed up by a strong regional and global network. Apart from the new facility in Thane, BASF is establishing a new regional development and technical services center for Asia in Shanghai. The Shanghai center, which will be inaugurated in Q2 this year, will form an integral part of a powerful global R&D network to enable worldwide customers to leverage on the latest ideas and innovations from around the world.
